Grooms Wedding Timeline

9-12 months out

– Decide on wedding month

– Start on wedding guest list

– Discuss the budget

– Choose a best man and groomsmen

– Book the venue

6-9 months out

– Choose exact wedding date

– Register for wedding gifts

– Start planning the honeymoon

– Purchase wedding bands

– A more hands on groom to be may be helping you with the details of choosing food, transportation, flowers, cake, DJ and more.

3-5 months out

– Choose what the groomsmen will wear

– Meet with officiants and choose someone you both connect with

2-3 months out

– Make sure groomsmen have their formalwear

– Get alterations done

4 weeks out

– Get marriage license

– Have a bachelor party

– Go in for a final tux/suit fitting

– Prepare speeches for the rehearsal dinner and wedding

– Write and practice vows

– Final guest list of those that RSVP and give to caterer and venue

– Give song list to the band/DJ

One week out

– Get a haircut

– Pick up formalwear and make sure all fits

– Groom nails

– Confirm day-of plans with all vendors and make final payments

1-2 days out

– Practice vows

– Pack for honeymoon

– Pack everything needed for the big day if staying at a hotel the night before (Don’t forget the rings!)

The night before

– Attend rehearsal dinner

– Give the marriage license to officiant

The big day

– Shave, dress and enjoy quality time with groomsmen and parents

– Give the rings to best man
