2015 Minneapolis Wedding Trends

Texture Fabrics: Think of fabrics like tulle, lace, and other textured fabrics. Burlap will remain popular, as will vintage looking fabrics. This textured look of ruffles can move from décor and tables to the cakes frosting.

Suspended Flowers:  You will see garlands and moss draping across reception venue ceilings. Also, if there is a chandelier at your venue consider hanging flowers there as well.

Less Flowers: Some couples are opting for a more minimalist approach. More greenery with baby’s breath and succulents.

Candy Favors: Tables filled with all your childhood candy favorites. Guests can fill little bags to take home after the reception.

Lace and Cut Outs: Lace on dresses sleeves or covering the length of the wedding dress. More dresses with pretty and unique cutouts to show off brides backs. Grooms will opt for more shades of gray or navy blue tuxedos.

Craft Beers: Guests and couples have a finer pallet and it will be easy to meet their needs with so many local Iowa breweries to choose from.

Communal Eats: Long tables make for more elbow room and space to fit in the reception venue. Long tables can be rustic or formal.

Unique Flavors: Cakes are no longer just vanilla, chocolate or champaign. More couples are going with unique flavors such as fruit and coconut.

Cake Alternatives: Last year was all about desserts in bite size, which will continue. This year will also bring back comfort dessert options like pie.
